Baby Brianna
When I visited Meryl’s Blog, I saw one of her post that shocked me. A baby was rape and killed by her own family. After I read her blog, I got the interest to read more in other sites about what really happed to the baby. This is the worst ever child abuse and crime I’ ve ever read. I could almost burst out to anger to her criminal family.
Brianna Lopez, a 5 months old baby. According to what I’ve read in few articles, she was rape and abused by her father (Andy Walters, 21) and Uncle (Steven Lopez, 19). July 18th 2002, Thursday night, Andy Walters, Stephanie Lopez and her twin brother Steven Lopez, drink through the evening. After 3 beers, Stephanie got drunk and fell asleep while the two guys were playing on the baby, throwing up on the ceiling 3 times and let her slam on the ground twice. At three in the morning, Walters says he awoke to find Brianna on the floor near the bed. He said he wrapped her in a blanket and put her in a bouncer. By 7 a.m., Brianna needed a diaper change. Stephanie Lopez asked about the bruises on Brianna, and according to court documents, Walters admitted that he and Steven Lopez “played a little rough with her”.
Walters changed the diaper and took a baby wipe, wrapped it around his index finger and inserted it into brianna’s anus.
The complaint also states Andy Walters admitted he bit Brianna on several occasions, but he told Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Deputies he is not not the only family member to bite Brianna.
Walters also told authorites that Stephanie Lopez pinched and threw Brianna out of frustration.
The uncle, Steven Lopez, admits to throwing Brianna in the air and not catching her. Steven Lopez claims to have drunk ten beers the previous night.
During his interview with Sheriff’s Deputies, Steven Lopez admitted to having sex with Brianna Lopez. Adding that he, as well as Andy Walters, had penetrated Brianna on several different occasions.
By 10 a.m., July 19th, Stephanie Lopez checks on her daughter, notices Brianna is not breathing, and she calls 9-1-1.
11:10 am, Friday July 19th, five month old Brianna Lopez dies at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces.
Autopsy results show Brianna Lopez had 11 bite marks on her body, broken ribs, skull fractures, bleeding of the optic nerves and brain swelling.
They each are charged with child abuse resulting in death. Walters also was charged with criminal sexual penetration of the baby.
Deputies have now interviewed the six adults and two children who lived in the home with Brianna. Miranda said the family is being cooperative.
The autopsy revealed a long list of injuries that appeared to have been inflicted over an extended period of time upon the little girl who was born on Valentines Day.
On Monday, Miranda detailed the multiple injuries found on the babys body. He said Brianna had 11 human bite marks in varied stages of healing, multiple bruises, fractures to two right ribs, three skull fractures, swelling of the brain and signs of shaken baby syndrome. Brianna also had fractures to both legs, an injury experts say is commonly caused by picking up the child with a quick, jerking motion by the legs.
Investigators will obtain dental impressions to determine who made the bite marks.
In court records, Walters admitted to biting Brianna, but said he “did not take a chunk out of her.” Walters said his 18-month-old son also bit the baby. He said that Stephanie Lopez also bit and pinched her when she became frustrated with Brianna.
On the video, I’ve seen and heard that the 3 criminals will be prison for 18 years! What the…. Can you imagine that? Here in the Philippines, if you admitted a rape case to minor, you will be imprisoned for a lifetime. But in New Mexico, I can’t believe the life of a child cost only 18 months of imprisonment. I don’t think it is righteous.

this is sad. did the baby ever go to the doctor? all those bruises,i feel so bad for her and i pray for the ones who did this,she was an innocent baby and she deserved to be protected and loved not abused like that!!!!!!

Baby Branna never had her picture taken because she was always covered in bruises. The pic you see of baby Briana was taken after her death and photo shopped for the authorities. They will never forget her. The Law in New Mexcio has changed but I stll can’t understand why the mother, the grandmother were not given heavier sentences. There was never a day that
Brianna didn’t suffer.

AS i sit here in tears thinking about all the pain that little angel went through her whole life. I am full with so much anger that anyone would do such HORRIBLE things to any one. I hope her parents & uncle are being tortured in jail. Rest in peace baby girl.Sorry you had to live such a painful life

i wish dis fuckers get fucked up in jail and never get out nd i agree with 1 of yall…they shud b kept in a white area place where there is nothing to see..hopefully they go insane and then make them think about wat them fuckers did..im so attach to dis story of poor brianna..everytime i read something about her i just wana cry.i have a kid of my own and everytime she falls i feel horrible kus she gets a lil scratch or so..but like i told my hubby..if i ever have another gurl..ima named her brianna in honor of her..she was a beautiful girl who deserve to live to enjoy life.if they didnt wanted her they shud of given her 2 me.i dont care if im not rich but she wud of had love respect food and everything a baby needs…R.I.P.BABY ANGEL..OR SHUD I SAY BABY PRINCESS BRIANNA..

Reading about this article really touched me in an emmotional way because if that was to happen to my child i would never forgive myself …. goshh i am feeled with so much anger towards the family per se the male relatives and at the sametime i am sad …. children are gift we should cherish them …

i think the parents need to of been hung till the ropes are rotted so bad that it wont even hold the bodies any more. If i ever meet anyone who slaps spanks of even hurts thier child i will show them what had happened to this little baby and see what they say. so then they can pass it to all of their friends!!

We all agree how distrubing this crime is, we all agree that this crime warrants the death penalty or the very least life imprisonment. They didnt get this, instead one day they will be free. They are feed, clothed, sheltered and protected in prison. Does that sound like justice to you? Think about what they done to this little baby girl…. she was only 5 months old.. now imagine what kind of crime worst that this that would need to be done to an innocent baby , a child in order for the death penatly or life imprisonment sentence to be handed down? child abuse crimes are getting more and more heinous and more shocking. Until sentences are nothing less than life imprisonment or the death penalty for these crimes … child abuse rates will only increase and the act will only get worse and worse….

Simply put, the people capable of doing anything even close to this to another human being, don’t deserve the privilage of breathing the same air as the rest of us. Stephanie waited too long to call 911 and how could she not hear brianna screaming in pain what excitment do u get from doing stuff like that to a baby
